NEXT SUNDAY EVENING: In troubled times, many people go through bouts of concern and uncertainty. Dr. Johan Olivier’s work involves dealing with such problems on a daily basis. On Sunday evening, 30th October, as part of the normal evening service, Dr. Olivier will be talking on "Depression and Anxiety", and opportunity will be provided for the asking of questions. The last talks by Dr. Olivier (see here and here) were extremely interesting and informative, so… invite your friends, come along and learn how to cope with this growing problem.
LESSONS FROM A PENCIL MAKER
Before putting his pencils in a box, a pencil maker equated a pencil’s ‘life’ to what we, as humans, go through…
- Everything you do will always leave a mark.
- You can always correct the mistakes you make.
- What is important is what is inside of you.
- In life you will undergo painful sharpening which will only make you more effective.
- To be the best pencil, you must allow yourself to be held and guided by the hand that holds you.
A reminder…
- We all need to be periodically sharpened.
- You are a special person with unique God-given talents and abilities. Only you can fulfil the purpose that you were born to accomplish.
- Never allow yourself to become discouraged or think that your life is insignificant and cannot be changed.
- Like the pencil, always remember that the most important part of who you are is what's inside of you.
- Finally, always allow yourself to be guided by the hand of God.
