WELCOME: A very warm welcome to you all in the name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We ask God’s blessings upon you as we praise and worship Him and as we have fellowship together. If you are visiting, a special welcome and thank you for being here. Please sign our Visitors Book at the notice board and join us for a cup of tea or coffee after the service.

REMINDER: On the first Wednesday of every month, a group of Christians from various churches meets in the Knysna Municipal Council to pray, primarily for our town and its people. Please join them on Wednesday, 4^th August from 1.00 to 2.00 pm.

ONE MAN’S JUNK IS ANOTHER MAN’S GOLD! Knysna Christian School is holding a Jumble Sale from 9.00 am on Saturday, 7^th August at Loerie Park. If you are looking for interesting items, you may find just what you want at the sale, so please support this fund-raising drive. Thank you.

Newcomer’s Lunch: This will be held on Sunday 15 August at 12pm. All regular newcomers who have not been to a lunch before are invited to write their names on the list on the notice board to facilitate catering arrangements. Otherwise, chat to André or Monique Vercueil after the service or phone them on (044) 382 5853.

SOAKING… IN GOD’S PRESENCE: Please note that next meeting, to which everyone is invited, will be on Saturday, 14^th August from 4.00 to 5.00 pm at the church. Bring a mat and a pillow and spend time listening to God and “soaking” in His awesome presence.

KNITTING FOR BABIES: Following our appeal for people to knit jackets and blankets for premature and new-born babies, Karen Keller has kindly offered to provide copies of simple patterns which are given to primary school children. If you would like some of these patterns, please contact Karen on (082) 423 9358.

JUNGLE GYM: Climbing and stretching are essential activities for young children and jungle gyms provide the perfect facilities. An area has been fenced off next to the church and all that is needed is a jungle gym for children to use on Sundays and the Mission School children during the week. R10 000 is needed to purchase the jungle gym and if you would like to donate towards this appeal, please contact Chris Tait on (044) 382 4584. Thank you.

FLOWER ROSTER… Flowers are a wonderful expression of God’s love and the care that He poured into His creation. If you have a gift for arranging flowers, we would like to invite you to join our Flower Roster to arrange flowers for the church on Sundays. Women’s Retreat 2010

ALL women are invited to take a break from the responsibilities and pressure of being a wife/mother/sister and take part in a Women’s Retreat, organized by ladies from various churches in Knysna. The venue is Dune Park Hotel/Resort, Keurbooms near Plettenberg Bay and the weekend is 8 to 10 October. The cost for the whole weekend is R650.00 which covers luxurious accommodation, delicious meals and teas, fun events, worship and ministry, guest speaker, as well as free time to explore the surroundings or just relax. Enjoy the presence of God on a personal level with the added bonus of having fun and making new friends! ‘BUYELA’: What a blessing it was to witness this dynamic team of young people last Sunday evening as they shared with us, making us clap and laugh, but also making us cry! The exuberance and vitality of youth was tempered with divine wisdom as they showed us a more serious side, proving that they are true ambassadors for Christ. Besides the dancing and drama, personal testimonies were shared by two of the young people who had been brought up in homes without father figures and therefore without role models. Despite these shortcomings, the youngsters had placed their faith, trust and hope in the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and He had become their Father figure. In one case, after 22 years, communication has been established between one young man and his biological, estranged father that has led to a growing relationship between them. Please pray for this family as they seek to mend the broken bridges of the past and establish trust and love that is crucial in all families. Pray, too, for the entire team as they minister to people and share the love and forgiveness that they have found in our Lord Jesus. On the local front, Philip Schroder and his team of dedicated staff members and volunteers do an incredible job, sometimes against great odds, to spread the Good News amongst the schools and community of Knysna. Please pray for them as they continue this vital work in our town.

P.S. At the A.G.M of Y.F.C on Monday, thanks were expressed to everyone who prays for and/or provides funds for Youth for Christ. Your love and support is greatly appreciated.

BIRTHDAY CAKES: There are 52 children at Dorothy Broster Children’s Home who do not have the luxury of parents to provide them with birthday gifts and cakes. A roster is drawn up and the duties are shared throughout the year. Thank you.

TONIGHT’S SERVICE: We are delighted to welcome this evening the Youth for Christ National Performing Arts Team ‘Buyela’ (meaning “Return”) who will be sharing with us during the service. This vibrant team of 12 young people presents powerful, life-changing messages in a wide range of disciplines, including music, dance and drama, with an emphasis on Biblical teachings. They bring a message of hope, choice and positive change and visit churches, schools, prisons and communities. Their main objective is to ‘communicate the Father-heart of God to a generation suffering through broken relationships and broken dreams’. Please invite your friends to share in this special evening.

GIVE THANKS WITH A GRATEFUL HEART… We praise the Lord for a successful and peaceful Soccer World Cup… for the recent Knysna Oyster Festival… and for the wonderful, desperately needed, life-giving rain that has fallen this week! All thanks and praise to our wonderful, Heavenly Father and Saviour!

Let Him be our advocate! Thank you that we don't have to understand, for You said Your grace is enough for us. You are strong when we are weak and Your power becomes perfect in our weakness. WINTER CONTINUES!!! It’s not too late to start knitting for premature and newborn babies. Our thanks to everyone who has been knitting for this special need and, with the cold weather continuing, more blankets and jackets would be greatly appreciated. It means so much to the Mothers when they hold the soft, beautiful, knitted garments and appreciate the time, love and care that went into this work. Remember, constant movement gets the joints working and the blood flowing, bringing warmth to otherwise cold, stiff fingers. So, not only do the babies and their mothers receive a blessing, but you benefit from having warm hands during the cold winter evenings! Thank you and God bless you all.

CAN YOU HELP? Many people are struggling to feed their families and keep warm in the cold weather. Any donations of food, clothing and blankets would be most welcome.

THE AWESOME MAJESTY OF JESUS

You are in your car driving home. Thoughts wander to the game you want to see or meal you want to eat, when suddenly a sound unlike any you've ever heard fills the air. The sound is high above you. A trumpet? A choir? A choir of trumpets? You don't know, but you want to know... So you pull over, get out of your car, and look up. As you do, you see you aren't the only curious one. The roadside has become a parking lot. Car doors are open and people are staring at the sky. Shoppers are racing out of the grocery store. The Little League baseball game across the street has come to a halt. Players and parents are searching the clouds… and what they see, and what you see, has never before been seen!

As if the sky were a curtain, the drapes of the atmosphere part.... A brilliant light spills onto the earth... There are no shadows... None. From every hue ever seen and a million more never seen. Riding on the flow is an endless fleet of angels. They pass through the curtains one myriad at a time, until they occupy every square inch of the sky. North… South… East... West.

Thousands of silvery wings rise and fall in unison, and over the sound of the trumpets, you can hear the cherubim and seraphim chanting, "Holy, Holy, Holy..." The final flank of angels is followed by twenty-four silver-bearded elders and a multitude of souls who join the angels in worship. Suddenly, the heavens are quiet. All is quiet. The angels turn… you turn… the entire world turns and there He is... JESUS!

Through waves of light you see the silhouetted figure of Christ the King. He is atop a great stallion and the stallion is atop a billowing cloud. He opens His mouth, and you are surrounded by His declaration:

"I AM THE ALPHA AND THE OMEGA!"

The angels bow their heads.... The elders remove their crowns... And before you is a figure so consuming that you know, instantly you know: Nothing else matters. Forget stock markets and school reports, sales meetings and football games - Nothing is newsworthy. All that mattered, matters no more…..

PRAY FOR OUR TOWN: On the first Wednesday of every month, a group of Christians from various churches meets in the Knysna Municipal Council Chambers to pray, primarily, for our town and its people. If you would like to be a part of this special time of prayer, please join other Christians at the Council Chambers at 1.00 pm this Wednesday, 7th July.

THE ULTIMATE GOAL (TUG)… Youth for Christ continues its Holiday Club for children in Grades 1 to 7 from 5 to 9 July There will be soccer, life skills, drama, arts and crafts from 9 am to 12 noon. The programme ends with a viewing of the World Cup Final on 11 July from 7 to 10 pm There is no charge and the venue is Knysna Primary School Field. Philip Schroder is looking for volunteers to help with this outreach. If you can help, even with only one or two sessions, please phone Philip on 044-382 7474 or (082) 570 5470.

Joining with the programme will be the YFC National Performing Arts Team ‘Buyela’ (meaning “Return”) who are visiting the area from 5 to 23 July to share music, dance and drama tailored for varying audiences and contexts. They will visit churches, schools, prisons and communities to ‘communicate the Father-heart of God to a generation suffering through broken relationships and broken dreams’. Anyone who can help with meals or accommodate some of the team members is asked to please contact Philip. Thank you.

ADVANCE NOTICE: ‘Buyela’ (see above) will be sharing with our church during the evening service of Sunday, 18^th July. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet this vibrant team of 12 young people who have been professionally trained in the respective arts, disciplines, life skills facilitation and Biblical teachings and principles with the object of presenting powerful, life-changing messages.

WORSHIP TEAM: Do you have God-given musical talents that you are too shy or not confident enough to share? Do you sometimes wonder why you have these talents? The Worship Team is the ideal place to develop both your gifts and your confidence. Please come along to the Worship Team practices on Thursday evenings to see what goes on and to see how you could contribute to this important ministry.
