Church Notices 31 January 2010

WELCOME: We warmly welcome you to our services in the wonderful Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. May God bless you richly as we join together to praise, worship and honour Him and as we have fellowship one with another.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY:  To Lynn Magson, Caitlin Sass, Shane Snyman and Francois Bruwer for today, Werner van Wyk, Johan de Klerk and Erin Young (1^st), Adriano Persello (2^nd), John Swart (3^rd), and WP van Heerden, Mitchell Sohn and Cameron Keller (4^th). May God bless you all on your ‘special days’. A reminder that we have a birthday book at the notice board. If your name is not in it, please could you record this as we would love to have the opportunity of wishing you a “Happy Birthday” on the special day that God chose for you to be born.

TEA DUTY: February - Perring/Vorster Home Cell Group.

EVENING SERVICES: A reminder that, on Sunday evenings, we are showing the DVD series, “Unlocking the Bible”, by David Pawson. If you want to learn more about the background, purpose, meaning and relevance of the books of the New Testament, you really should not miss this series. David Pawson gives an in-depth, but easy to understand explanation of the Scriptures and everyone is very welcome. On the third Sunday of every month, we will have our normal service during which Communion will be shared.

ALUMINIUM TART TRAYS: Estelle Myburgh makes the most delicious tarts for church functions or for people who are ill or needy. If you have any clean, used aluminium trays such as those from lemon meringues, milk tarts or apple crumble, please bring these along to the church for Estelle. Thank you.

DO YOU HAVE… Leo Buscaglia’s video or DVD entitled “Only you can make the difference” that you would be prepared to loan to Frances Swart? Frances will take very good care of it and she can be contacted on 082 715 8676.

PRAISE THE LORD… For some relief from the drought that is gripping this area. Please continue to pray that, in His mercy, our Father will send more rain to replenish our dams, rivers, and water tanks and bring new life to our fields and gardens. Thank You, Lord!!!

Church Notices 24th January 2010

WELCOME: A very warm welcome to you all in the Name of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. May God bless you as we join together in praise and worship to Him and as we have fellowship as His family. A special welcome to our Visitors and thank you for coming. Please sign our Visitor’s Book at the notice board and join us for a cup of tea or coffee after the service.

BIRTHDAYS:  To Jamie Sohn for today, Michael Dragner (26^th), Damian Hennessy (28^th) and Sulene Drake (P.E.) (30^th). May God bless you all on your ‘special days’.

TEA DUTY: 24^th – Vercueil’s Home Cell Group. 31^st – Perring/Vorster Home Cell Group.

EVENING SERVICES: Starting this evening, we will resume the DVD series by David Pawson, “Unlocking the Bible”. David Pawson is a world-renowned Bible teacher and his in-depth explanations give a clearer understanding of the Scriptures as he sets out the background, purpose, meaning and relevance of each book of the Bible. On the third Sunday of every month, we will have our normal service during which Communion will be shared.

MISSION SCHOOL: Donations of the following would be greatly appreciated: children’s books, puzzles, Lego, used greeting cards, magazines, and any items that can be used for art such as crayons, scissors, paints, egg boxes, empty cardboard cylinders from kitchen roller towels and toilet rolls, etc. Please bring to the church marked “Mission School”.

WORSHIP DANCING (Worshipping the Lord in Music and Movement): The children’s group for boys and girls aged 5 to 14 years has started. Anyone wishing to join is invited to come along to the church on Fridays at 2.00 p.m. The adult’s group starts tomorrow evening at 6.30 p.m. and anyone is welcome to join in. For more information, please contact Sharifa Louw on 079 517 1799.

SOAKING IN GOD’S PRESENCE: Bring a cushion, mat and blanket and come to the church next Saturday from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. to meet with the Lord in a special way. To book by tomorrow at the latest, please phone Michelle Utian on 082 740 9140 or 044-387 1280 or Noalene Torr on 083 413 6162. If you are able to provide a plate of snacks, please let Noalene or Michelle know. As from February, this special “meeting with the Lord” will be held every Saturday from 4 to 5 p.m., at the church.

PRAYER REQUESTS: The Garden Route and Klein Karoo remain in the grip of a devastating drought. Please pray that our merciful Father will send life-giving rain to this area. And, across the globe, please remember in prayer the people of Haiti who are still reeling after a number of horrific earthquakes and after-shocks. Please pray that the light of the Lord would go into those dark places and that His love and compassion would flow, bringing comfort and drawing many people to Jesus and the salvation that He offers.

THINGS WE CAN LEARN FROM A DOG

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joy ride. When a loved one comes home, always run to greet him. Take naps and stretch before rising. Be loyal… never pretend to be something you’re not. When somebody is having a bad day, sit close, listen, and touch them gently. Bond with your pack. Avoid biting when a simple growl will do Allow the experience of fresh air and wind in your face to be pure ecstasy. Delight in the simple joy of a long walk. And, most importantly, spend time sitting on your Master’s lap and listening to His voice.

WELCOME: A very warm welcome to you all on this, the first Sunday of 2010. The year ahead holds much promise, but remember that the greatest promise of all is found in our Lord Jesus Christ! A special welcome to our Visitors.

A PRAYER FOR 2010

May there be peace within you.

May you trust that you are exactly where the Lord wants you to be.

May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in God, in yourself and in others. May you use the gifts that God has given you and pass on the love that you have received. May you be content in the Lord and filled with His Holy Spirit. May He pour down His love upon you and give you the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love!!
