EMPLOYMENT
OFFERED: Anne-Marie van Zyl is looking
for a reliable, honest maid for 3 days a week. Please contact
Anne-Marie on 044-382 5706.
SHORT-TERM
ACCOMMODATION NEEDED: Timothy Divito is
fairly new to South Africa and, while still in America, he attended
the Vineyard Church in Phoenix, Arizona. Timothy’s fiancée,
Nadine, has been assigned a 6 month practical at
Pezula as part of her culinary course and she is looking for a one
bed-roomed flat or cottage to rent from end of December to end of
June. If anyone can help, please contact Timothy on 073 610
1850 or Nadine on 076 428 7447. Thank you.
KNITTING PROJECT
As part
of a project where mothers at the Provincial Hospital are taught to
knit while helping to take care of their sick of injured children,
Elza Kellerman would like to include crochet items made from soft,
pliable shopping bags. Please could you bring your used, clean bags
(folded if possible) to the church for Elza. She also asks for any
evening wear material or evening dresses that are no longer used and
can be cut up and recycled into other items. Any assistance with
empowering women to help themselves would be greatly appreciated.
FOOD
FOR THE NEEDY… A reminder that there
is a collection box in the church foyer for non-perishable foodstuffs
such as sugar, rice, mielie meal, peanut butter and canned goods to
be passed on to those in need. Any donations would be greatly
appreciated. We also have a deepfreeze where we stock frozen food
for those who are temporarily out of work or incapacitated through
illness. If you have cooked too much food or would like to make a
little extra, please freeze the food and mark on the container what
it contains and the date of freezing. Thank you.
CONCORDIA
OUTREACH: It was encouraging last
week to hear that, with 90 adults and the equivalent number of
children attending each week, the Concordia Outreach has been
recognised by the Vineyard movement as a “church plant”. Thank
you to those who help in practical ways – teaching, supporting,
transporting, music, providing food, etc. Thank you, also, to those
who pray for this outreach. A reminder that peanut butter,
margarine, jam and cooldrink is always needed and if you can donate
any of these items, please bring them to the church marked
“Concordia”. Help is also needed with the teaching of the
children whose ages vary tremendously and Rohan and Natasha van
Schalkwyk are presently the only teachers! Translators are also
needed and anyone who can help is asked to please contact Chris Tait
on 044-382 4584.
ALPHA COURSE
Introduced by Rev. Nicky Gumble in the U.K. some years ago, the Alpha Course has swept the globe and been brought to numerous churches of many denominations. Presented in the form of a series of DVD presentations followed by group discussion, the Alpha Course is an excellent introduction to Christianity given in an easy-to-understand format. A new course is starting soon and if you would like to attend or know someone who would like to, please contact Peter Hamp-Adams on 044-382 0258 / 071 604 3362 or Frans Kock on 044-382 7240. There is no charge for the course and the topics covered include…
Christianity – Boring, untrue, irrelevant?
Who is Jesus?
Why did Jesus die?
How can I be sure of my faith?
Why and how do I read the Bible?
Why and how do I pray?
Does God guide us?
Who is the Holy Spirit?
What does the Holy Spirit do?
How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?
Making the most of the rest of my life.
How can I resist evil?
Why and how to tell others.
Does God heal today?
What about the Church?
