WOMEN’S RETREAT
- by Wendy Rademeyer.
The Women's Retreat at Carmel was a great blessing to all who attended. I, together with a number of other ladies, was privileged to be a day visitor on Saturday when the morning session opened with a time of praise and worship in song to our Father. We then heard an excellent talk by guest speaker, Brigid Evans, on the importance that God attaches to families and the role He ordained for men and women in families. This was followed by question and answer time and an invitation to ladies to give their testimonies. Many women then experienced healing from past hurts and disappoint-ments as our Heavenly Father reached down to cover them with His love, forgiveness and restoration.
Lunchtime was a happy affair as we shared a delicious meal, followed by the distribution of surprise gift bags to the “weekend” ladies. Emotions ran high as they read notes from their loved ones and enjoyed the gifts bestowed on them by their families. A short period of rest was followed by tea and cake and then it was time for us to take our leave.
Very many thanks to all who worked so hard to make this weekend the success that it was - the husbands, families, cell groups and friends for their provision of the “gift bags of love”, the husbands for looking after homes and families, those who ministered to and/or sponsored others, transport providers, cake-bakers, Liz, Melanie, Natasha and Sanet for a great job done, Johnny for his support and numerous “sshhh” phone calls to advise families of the gift bags, the church for their prayers, support and encouragement and all the other behind-the-scene helpers. Special thanks to Brigid for being the Guest Speaker and for the awesome messages that she brought. Then, to the person who worked so hard and oversaw most of the organisation – thank you, Karen! Finally and most importantly, thanks and praise to God!!! All glory to Him for orches-trating a perfect weekend with awesome weather and in magnificent surroundings for the Women’s Retreat.
P.S. Over the years, it has become more and more clear to me that EVERYONE NEEDS GOD IN THEIR LIVES. His abundant grace extends to each and every one of His children. The Bible says that “For God does not show favouritism” (Romans 2:11), which means that He does not differentiate between people! Whatever your background – whether you are from an abusive or underprivileged home, or if you had a normal upbringing, or you have come from a privileged background, or you have turned your back on Him and taken the wrong path – if you are facing problems of any kind or feel that there is something missing in your life, the one constant that you can depend on is God. He will intervene and turn your life around – all you have to do is invite Him to do so. The choice is yours.
