WHAT
A GOOD IDEA!
Elza Kellerman is involved in a project to teach mothers at the
Provincial Hospital to do simple knitting and crochet. If anyone
has left-over wool, knitting needles or crochet hooks that they are
able to donate, please bring these to the church marked for Elza
Kellerman. Thank you.
HOSPITAL
VISITING… Estelle Myburgh heads the
Hospital Visiting Team. She has asked for Afrikaans magazines to
pass on to patients at the Provincial Hospital. If you have any of
these magazines, please bring them to the church.
KNYSNA
CHRISTIAN SCHOOL APPEAL… The school is
having a massive second-hand sale on the 29th
August to raise much needed funds. If you are cleaning out
cupboards (early spring-cleaning), anything you would like to donate
would be greatly appreciated - clothes, crockery, cutlery, linen,
tools, curtains, gardening goods, plants, furniture, appliances,
toys, books, ornaments - in fact anything that you no longer need.
Transport is available, so donations of BIG items would also be
welcomed! Please call Leigh Brown at the school on 044-382 0733 or
SMS Kirsty Hayward on 082 462 5274.
GUMBOOT
DANCERS
- FEEDBACK:
A few months ago, an appeal was made for gumboots and overalls for a
number of young men who aspired to become gumboot dancers as a means
of securing an income. Once again, this congregation opened its
heart and provided the clothing needed. As a result, gumboot
dancing has been introduced at a local school. The rhythmic nature
and repetitive routines are helping students to increase their
learning skills, listening abilities and attention span. So… many
thanks, again, to those who helped the gumboot dancers to achieve
their dream and, through this activity, are helping youngsters at
school with their education.

Remember
those good old "long playing" records or, as they were
commonly called "LP's"? Well, not everyone
knows what LP's are as was evidenced by an ad in
a local Admag a few weeks ago which read, "Elpie records player
working well"!
